DEAL ALERT

Ubisoft Store

Ghost Recon Future Soldier’s anniversary giveaway has ended

Ubisoft’s free claim period is over, but the campaign guide remains available with routes to today’s Ghost Recon prices.

Ghost Recon is celebrating 25 years by bringing one of its most cinematic missions back into the spotlight—and PC players can claim it permanently for free.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Future Soldier is currently $0 at the Ubisoft Store, down from $19.99. Add it to your Ubisoft account before August 13 at 9:00 a.m. Eastern / 1:00 p.m. UTC and it will remain in your Ubisoft Connect PC library.

A different kind of Ghost Recon

Future Soldier arrived in 2012 with a vision of warfare built around optical camouflage, drones, sensor grenades and carefully coordinated attacks. Its technology may no longer seem quite as futuristic, but the campaign’s appeal was never limited to its gadgets.

The best encounters turn a squad of four soldiers into a single weapon. Mark several enemies, wait for patrols to separate and execute a synchronized takedown before anyone can raise an alarm. When that plan collapses, the game shifts into explosive third-person combat filled with suppressing fire, flanking routes and destructible cover.

It is more directed than the enormous open worlds of Wildlands and Breakpoint, giving it a brisk, cinematic pace that makes it an interesting return for longtime players—and an easy introduction for anyone who missed it.

One important limitation

Future Soldier’s older online services have been decommissioned, so this giveaway is primarily access to its single-player campaign rather than a revival of its competitive multiplayer community. Ubisoft’s support information confirms that online multiplayer services for several legacy games, including Future Soldier, have closed.

The campaign remains the reason to claim it, and free is an excellent price for discovering this chapter of the series.

Wildlands and Breakpoint have enormous discounts too

The anniversary promotion extends beyond the giveaway. Ubisoft currently lists Ghost Recon Wildlands Standard Edition for $2.50, reduced from $49.99, and Ghost Recon Breakpoint Standard Edition for $3, reduced from $59.99.
