After nuclear war makes the surface of Moscow almost uninhabitable, survivors retreat into the city’s metro system. Every station becomes a tiny country with its own politics, fears and rituals. Between them lie dark tunnels where a failing flashlight, a cracked gas-mask filter or the sound of something moving beyond the tracks can matter more than raw firepower.
What Redux changes
Redux rebuilds the original game using the newer technology developed for Metro: Last Light. Lighting, movement, weapon handling and artificial intelligence were improved, while Survival and Spartan modes let players lean toward harsher resource management or more action-oriented gunplay.
The road to Metro Exodus
Metro 2033 is followed by Last Light and then Metro Exodus, which carries the series beyond Moscow into larger outdoor regions without abandoning its survival-horror character. Playing the trilogy in order makes Exodus’s moments of openness feel earned.
